AMERICAN INK JET CORPORATION ANNOUNCES THE SOLUTION FOR HP 57 STYLE CARTRIDGES
Billerica, Massachusetts, July 14, 2005 - Michael A. Andreottola, President & C.E.O. of American Ink Jet Corporation has announced that they have successfully developed an ink for use in the HP*57 cartridges.“We have been contacted by several companies to develop an ink for use in these printers.I started American Ink jet 22 Years ago and people usually come to us when something special or difficult needs to be accomplished.
There has recently been much concern in the industry over the recent developments going on between Staples and HP.The cause is due to a deluge of foreign companies coming into the U.S. without any regard for the patents held by our U.S. companies. We have created an ink which does not violate any of the HP Patents.”You will see none or no intercolor bleed when these inks are used in HP*printers using the 57 style cartridges with the HP black inks.We will soon have our own black ink formulation that will work with these inks.Right now, we have several partners who are using inks from various third party sources. Each black ink is formulated differently with different components. Therefore, the components in our colored inks may not work with the various inks.It is now mandated that we come up with this ink as soon as possible.
We can match the yellow and cyan colors of the inks but the magenta is more difficult because HP has their own chormophore and it really can’t be duplicated. The good news is that is can come very close to it. Also, these inks will give excellent lightfast qualities. The images are still being tested in our weatherometer and end points have not been reached at this time, which is great news.We actually began studying lightfast dyes for use in the ink jet in 1994.We were making inks for the Iris printer which was being used for fine art reproduction. So, we have had the technology for over 10 years. These same formulations are being used for the new HP VIVERA* inks. There will be a slight formulation adjustment necessary to run these inks in the new cartridges.
