Just as the types of ink jet printers vary, so do the types of compatible ink jet inks.
As an ink jet ink manufacturer, American Ink Jet Corporation manufactures three types Of ink jet inks based on the three types of ink jet printer technologies: Continuous Ink Jet Printers, Thermal Ink Jet Printers and Piezo Ink Jet Printers. Continuous Ink Jet Printers were the first commercially available ink jet printers on the market in the 1950’s and primarily used in commercial ink jet applications such as printing bar codes and alphanumeric characters. Some of these applications have been taken over by thermal ink jet printers and inks made by Hewlett Packard. Thermal ink jet printers have been around since the late 1970’s and were first produced by Canon and Polaroid and were limited to alphanumerics at about 80 dpi. The Hewlett Packard thermal ink jet printer came along in the late 1970’s. The ink jet inks used in these printers had to be thermally stable because they were introduced to extremely high temperatures. These printers started out as desktop printers but are now also used as wide format printers. Bulk ink jet ink is available for these printers.
Piezo ink jet printers have been made by Epson since the 1990’s. These printers also started as desktop printers but are now highly acclaimed as wide format printers producing extraordinary graphics. American Ink Jet manufactures both remanufactured cartridges and bulk ink jet inks for these printers.
Other manufacturers that manufacture Piezo wide format printers are Mimaki, Mutoh and Roland. American Ink Jet Corporation manufactures Aqueous Ink Jet Inks, eco-solvent ink jet inks and Textile Ink Jet Inks for all of these printers. American Ink Jet Corporation offers ink jet inks for these printers as either remanufactured cartridges or bulk ink jet inks.
American Ink Jet Corporation manufactures custom ink jet inks, custom compatible cartridges as well as ‘Toll” manufacturing of ink jet inks.
